Neo-Platonism: An Introduction

“THE ONE is all things and no one of them; the source of all things is not all things; all things are its possession … ”
– Ennead 5 Tractate 2.1

Neo-Platonism arose primarily from the work of Plotinus (204 – 270 AD) under the influence of Plato’s philosophy. It might also be regarded as the other great religious tradition of the West in distinction to Christianity and had a significant impact on Renaissance thinking about magic.
