Identity & Conflict

 

The questions “who am I?” and “who are we?” become political questions when conflicts arise over differences between groups, whether these are differences of nation, culture, ethnicity, class, caste, or social status, ideology & world view, or of social convention. The issues of identity and identification lie close to those of political violence, whether state sponsored or not, and of its resolution.
